I’m a fan of Gabe Saporta. From Midtown to Cobra, I’ll stand behind him, and even through this whole debacle here. Everyone seems to want to make it about “Oh, he’s on stage! He shouldn’t pay those hecklers any attention!” But no, you don’t go about things in life like that.
If you haven’t heard, he being “scrutinized” because he answered some people by saying things like: “I have so many brothers and sisters here who will pound your ass to the pavement” and “Go home, go look at pictures of your mom and jack off.”
Yeah, it sounds childish, and the man is 30 years old. The supposed heckler was 16 years old, something he didn’t know at the time. The one thing I hate is when people believe that you have to censor yourself for someone just because you’re playing to a younger crowd. But what was he supposed to do? Just play through a group of kids that purposely brought those tickets up close so they could heckle the band? As he said “I might be on stage, but I’m still a person. You can’t come and talk shit to me and not expect to get it back. If you dish it, you gotta be able to take it.”
People make it seem like he jumped into the crowd and beat the kid to a bloody pulp. In reality it’s more of a yo’ momma joke that the kid couldn’t come back from.
